So I've been wanting to do a /good/ loot post, and was going to do it on MFC first, but I'd rather post the pictures here and on Tumblr first. Pretty sure I've missed minor items... >.> And I haven't done any real collection posts here in a while. It's probably missing an item or two >.> But I probably shouldn't mention that considering the list... haaaaaaaaah. This was a LOT more work than I thought it would be.

Stupidly GREAT find. I got this at Value Village for $10!!!! Her eye is missing the iris, but I'm working on matching the material or getting replacement. OR I might get her professionally restored. She's too good to NOT take care of.

Dengeki Hobby magazine, featuring the S.H.Figuarts Sailor Moon figure. The magazine was SUPER cheap, but shipping was HELL lmao. So worth it though. There's also a flyer in the front of the book that's single sided only. Just the pretty picture side of the usual flyer.

IMG_0086

KumaCraft necklaces. Not all of them are from this year, but the only one that is is deep in my display case XD. I didn't want to haul it out.

IMG_0088

Cutie Moon Rod candy toy <3
IMG_0089

Is this bootleg or official? I've seen obviously bootleg versions, but this one looks better... although similar?

IMG_0092

Manga volumes 1-11 as well as Sailor V 1 and 2. Purchased since release, but they're all on a shelf so meh lol.

Andddd I finally completed my gashapon ad wishlist. I am hoping to find the one for the Live Action gashapon as well, but these are my favourite and most sought after. Probably paid about $20 each ish. Number 3 is damaged a lot, so I may eventually replace it.

I lied! This is the final piece. I got this toay... so technically it's July, but w/e. It's a cardboard standee advertising the movie releases. I know the owner and a couple workers at a local comic shop and they found this in the back storage and gave it to me for free. I squealed like a school girl all the way home.

Would you happen to know if there are any more of the Chibimoon busts available?!

Unfortunately not. These were the only two they had =(

This will sound really random, but . . . have you considered get a recast done of it (if the original cast is somewhat decent)?

I suppose I could. I know I most definitely don't have the skills to do a recast, but I could always see if E2046.com would be interested in it? The casts seem pretty good. The only areas I don't particularly like are where the tabs were.

Eh, apparently E2046 has decided that they won't send back the original kit to the owner. I am almost certain that this is why they don't have a cast of the Neo Queen Serenity kit or anything really rare popping up on the site. :(

Sorry to pester you! You might be the only person that I have spoken to who actually has this kit. :) Do you assemble your GKs or have them sent out?

Yea I noticed that after your last message. I went to check it out and they send one of the recasts instead, and a STUPIDLY small percentage of pre-order sales. I think I'd be ok with that... since I think these are recasts, but I think I'll think about it first.

I assemble and paint all of my own GKs. I'm too picky and artsy to have someone else do it lol. Here are my completed ones: http://paulinefrench.deviantart.com/gallery/29902761

I need to buckle down and get better pictures XD.

Very cool! GKs take a lot of time and effort, but it is definitely worth it to have a finished piece. You have a nice collection of finished works! (I have yet to finish one). More pictures are always good, especially if you do commissions. :)

I have been working on GKs as well. They are almost all recasts since originals are so hard to find. I found all of the chibi/SD kits from a German recaster, which really made me want to try my hand at it. Have you done any of your own customs/bash kits?

Thank you!

I haven't done any bashes with GK but I done one with bootleg gashapon (the Super Sailor Chibi Moon in the link I sent earlier). Mainly because there are too many pre-existing kits I want to paint first XD. There are at least 6 kits waiting to be painted, and 3 in progress XD.

Do you like the Chibi/SD kits? I find them a little stretched and out of proportion. Recasts are usually my first choice simply for availability and cost lol. Some of the prices on Ebay for the original kits are crazy. I can't imagine paying $200+ for something and then painting it... even if that's its purpose. I'd be worried about messing it up a LOT more.

The Super ChibiMoon is awesome! Painting plastic/vinyl is hard (which you already know!) I've worked on Munny vinyls before; the worst part is sealing the paint in. >_< The finish on the Super Chibimoon is really nice. What are your other kits? (I think I have a Rishu kit, Super Sailor Jupiter, an Evangelion chibi and a Nakoruru kit all in prep stages XD).

I like the SuperS chibi kits. The R kits don't look very good to me either. But the SuperS are pretty cute! I also have the Stars kits (the 3 Starlights and Eternal Moon). Since the Stars kits are so rare, I want to try to recast them.

I've never done Munnys before, but I've done other vinyl bases. I've never had much trouble to be honest. A Mystique I painted a few years ago has taken quite the beating being travelled to and from conventions. If you want I could give you the name of the Varnish I use when I'm home from work?

The ones I'm working on now are Chibi Usa with Helios, Super Sailor Jupiter with changing faces, and Sailor Pluto. The ones I have waiting are a GIANT CCSakura, 2/3 of a Magic Knight Rayearth kit, a school uniform Usagi with Luna, another Pluto, Sumomo (chobits), Sailor Cosmos, and some hentai kit that my friend has been asking me to paint for forever XD.

Ooh it would be nice to see the Stars kits. They're Chibi as well? I'd be interested in a recast! There's not enough Stars merch out there.

The name of the varnish would be great! I tried using a Krylon Matte Finish on a vinyl figure and it just made the finish kind of tacky. :( Do you take your figures to display at cons?

Wow, that is a lot of kits! It does become addicting, especially if you can find good recasts at a good price! :)

I sent you a FR on FigureCollection.net. The kits I have are listed on there and has pictures of the chibi Stars kits. :) Whenever I do get to recast them, maybe I can convince you to lend me your SCM kit. XD

Thanks for letting me hijack your journal. :) It is nice to chat with a fellow collector/GK lover!

Most of what I use is Liquitex (from an art store), Delta (typical craft varnish from a craft store), and Tamiya Colour (Japanese from a hobby shop). These are made specifically for these types of things and shouldn't be tacky. They're also mainly brush on, so you might have to adapt them for an air brush if you use one (all of mine are hand brushed).

I *use* to take my figures to cons. At least one or two for example. Now I just photograph them and put them in a binder with info because people kept knocking them over and breaking them. Repairing something that already took a month to build SUCKS.

Oohhh you do have some REALLY cool kits. Any reason you pick smaller sized ones? Just preference for chibi/SD? And if you do recasts I really might send it XD. I like the idea of getting it back, and if E2046 won't do that then they might be short two awesome kits =(

And no problem! That's actually what I miss about collection updates. It's great learning about GK/collection hobbies from other people.

I prefer an aerosal varnish because it is a little quicker. But I should try Tamiya again some time. That brand should have a varnish that will work on plastic.

Having photographs is probably a better idea. Watching someone break my figures (unintentionally or not) would probably make me go crazy. It is a lot of hard work!

I tend to collect chibi/SD items from Sailor Moon. And I also really wanted to have a GK of all the Senshi, but it's been hard to find kits I like that are all the same scale. O_O I just didn't account for the amount of delicate prep work required.

Tamiya is a great choice then. It's made specifically for GK/hobby builders, or at least the one I purchase is.

Yea, no one has broken one intentionally, but nearly always it either breaks in transport or when someone knocks my table. =(

lol There are a few sets... sadly they're expensive =( Whats your grail? Mine is the 1/4 scale Sailor Moon. Fffff she's SO pretty.

As long as Tamiya doesn't melt my acrylic paint, I will give it a try!

My grail is the T's System Neo Queen Serenity! She is so pretty. ;_; Since it is so hard to find, I want to modify the JASF Princess Serenity. Second in line is probably the Eternal Moon and Chibimoon busts. :) Again, since they are hard to find, I will probably modify the Super SM bust and make her Eternal. :)

It won't. I use nothing but craft acrylic paints. If it melts your paint, you're using the wrong stuff.

Ooh those are awesome :D
